SITAR IS MY FAVORITE. Every time we come to Knoxville we try to arrange it around eating at Sitar. The dinner is better, but we try to eat there for their lunch buffet to get a selection of different foods. The service is always fast and friendly.

Great Place for Indian Food. Dont judge this place by its looks. As someone said that looks can be deceptive. Having a real nice building and bunch of servers that dont know indian food is certainly not what SITAR is known for. But rather its known for its small cozy place that has Excellent found served by young Indian servers that understands the meaning of Hospitality. Be it a dinner or lunch Sitar is always been my best spot. It is one of the best Indian Cuisine in my opinion. It certainly does not have Watery gravy and c...r whatever that mean in their Naans. I have been visiting that place since May 2000.. And not a single time that i have ever had bad experience. I also am aware of the envy amongst some people in the town because of SITAR's performance over the years. Nevertheless what anyone says about this place, I know it is certainly the best Indian food you can find in America....!!

Worst Food ever. Never ever, I have had food that tasted so bad. The curries were watery and to top it off we found a dead c--- r---- in our naan. I obviously got food poisioning. When I called them to report the issue, the owner said OKAY. No apologies. I don't recommend this restaurant to anyone. If you do visit. eat at your own risk!!!

good food , bad service. I am regular going to sitar because I really like their food. They have lunch buffet and they never put the same type of food next day. They are always changing. The food taste is far better at dinner time than lunch buffet. The servers are experienced. I am seeing them for last couple of years. Though the food is excellent, the manager (that fat guy , who claims him as manager but I found that he lied to me later..) is very very rude. I can see most of the time he is arguing with costomers and even with other servers. Most of the time they talk very loudly. so if you most need a good environment, dont go to sitar, if that is for food, there is no such good place like sitar.

avoid 365 days. Sitar food is definetely not meant for Indians. The buffet menu is same almost everyday and the base for different vegetarian curry is same.

I will not go there again and Knoxville actually needs one real Indian restaurent.

Excellent - For an American Curry House. One of only two in Knoxville -I'll check out Kashmir soon!

Service was impecable.

Cutlery was clean.

Place was well lit.

Good choice of dishes; Notably, the 'Ccombination Dinners'. I had the House Speciality.

This means you get two meat dishes, veg dish, rice & nan bread. Oh, and a starter -mine was haldi (tumeric) soup.

The problem with Indian restaurants in the USA, is they do a main dish w/rice... and that's it!

In the UK (the recognised mecca for curries) you get to choose a main dish and then some smaller veg dishes (gets back to the traditional meat & two veg).

This is as close as I have got here in the USA.

I love curries, I have tried out Indian Asian food from Boston to Miami (nothing there!), and I have to say, this is about as good as it gets in the US.

About half the patronage when I went, were Asian (Indian) -that's got to say something?

They also allowed me to switch dishes in the above 'combination'.

I switched out the Lamb Rogan for a Chicken Methi - no extra charge.

I also asked for it to be made extra spicy...

Yup, it sure was that!

In the US I'd grade this as 9/10 ( UK 7/10)

Basically; Pretty damn good, all around.

Must Try. The food is excellent. I recommend the Lamb or Chicken Korma and Chicken Vindaloo - the Tandoori's are okay but have been too dry in my opinion. The mulligatawny soup was not to my liking. The naan bread....both keema (lamb) naan and the piswari (sweet) naan is awesome. If you love spicy hot and ask for the hottest, be prepared...they will make it so hot that you will regret it later that night. :o) They're attentive with refilling your water glasses (not so much the other drinks). It's a small place and it sometimes gets loud because people are trying to talk over one another. The service can be a little slow, especially when there are only 2-3 of the guys actually doing the orders when there is a group or busy because it seems everyone asks questions about the dishes and it takes so long for them to decide. The guys have a tendency to focus on one table at a time and will pass you by unless you get their attention. But when it's slow, there's no problem. The food is great though and I'm a return customer every 2 wks for the past 2 yrs. Price isn't too bad. The lunch buffet is okay but not great.

Best Indian in Knoxville. Though the exterior is a bit shabby, don't let it put you off. Sitar is the best Indian around. The staff are extremely friendly and the food is delicious. The place has a real vibe - college professors, blue collar workers, etc. all find common ground over the samosas.

Best Indian Food In Knoxville. Sitar delivers consistently good Indian food in a

convenient West Knoxville location. Like Kashmir,

its buffet is of lower quality than the food on the menu, but it's still good. It's not the best Indian food in the

world (or even in Tennessee -- try Maurya in Brentwood), but it is the best in Knoxville, and worth

the drive.
