Cantrell's just came out to our house for the second time and we could not be more pleased. Each time they have analyzed the problem immediately and within twenty minutes they have fixed it.
A customer-focused company – Cantrell recently replaced our A/C and furnace with a new Amana system. Working with Cantrell staff was like a breath of fresh air after working with our previous heat/air company. Randy, Brian, and Jeff were all very professional, knowledgeable, courteous, conscientious, and customer-focused, as were all the office and tech staff. They responded to our request for quote and other phone questions very promptly, and they checked on us after the installation to see if we were happy with the work. To their special credit, they debugged and fixed a damper problem that we had had previous trouble with for years. This was not even part of their installation, but they looked into after their installation and fixed it for us at no charge. They put in an extra vent for us in one room, and would remove their shoes before walking across our hardwood floors.
They worked fast, cleaned up after themselves, and the price was very good in comparison to other quotes we got for the same work, plus they are close to us at their location just off Tazewell Pike. A fine outfit, well-trained and customer-focused. I highly recommend this company to my friends and neighbors.
Great Service – We chose Cantrell's Heat and Air when we went through TVA to get our new heat and air unit. They did a wonderful job and cleaned up after themselves, I couldn't even tell they had been there. We had a few issues with the A/C unit, it simply quit working. Since we didn't really use it for the first two years it had gone unnoticed. Randy came out twice on my schedule which was very late. My dog's were miserable in the summer heat. Randy was completely understanding of my work schedule. Pam the office manager is excellent she went above and beyond to help us. Randy and his entire staff are great! I highly reccomend them to anyone that needs professional, affordable service! Kudo's to the Cantrell's guys.
STAY AWAY from this place!!! – We chose this contractor from a list provided to us by TVA of contractors we could use to purchase and have installed a new high-energy-efficient heat pump system and have it financed by TVA through our monthly utility bills. Cantrells offered a very good price and a fantastic warranty compared to other companies we received bids from so we chose them. The unit was installed in Feb 2009. We were told by our utility company NOT to give out the payment authorization code to the contractor UNTIL we received all our warranty paperwork IN WRITING. Cantrells became very nasty about that and demanded the number. We told them we couldnt do that until we received our warranty papers. Within an hour of talking to both Cantrells AND the local utility company, Cantrells then called the utility company directly and lied to them telling them we were out of the country and unavailable and had "forgotten" to give them the code before we left.. in an attempt to get the payment authorization code directly from the utility company. However, since the utility company had just talked to me, they knew this was not true. We finally did get our warranty paperwork and they got their payment from TVA and everyone signed off on the unit and we thought everything was hunky-dorey. Within 2 weeks, the unit started making loud noises. They came out and did something but it did not really help much. Within 2 months the noises were pretty horrendous. Cantrells sent a technician out who told us the manufacturer would have to come out... we never heard from anyone again. Many calls later were met with only a run-around. No one would return calls. Woman answering the phone was very nasty. Weather got warmer, and we tried the A/C for the first time. Discovered that not only did it not cool... it HEATED!!! It's late April now and we still have not gotton anything done at all. Calls directly to the distributer motivated them somewhat but they still have not done anything to address the situation at all. Needless to say we would NOT recommend this contractor. There are a LOT of HVAC people in town, find another one that is reputable.
Update:Ok through the summer, Cantrells has since replaced the unit for us... TWICE! with a brand new unit. It seemed to be a faulty batch of units or something.. which is no fault of Cantrells at all.. but their handling of the situation was not very helpful or professional. Very evasive and the lady answering the phone is INCREDIBLY rude. The 2nd time it was replaced, we were told that it wouldnt be replaced again.. that any further troubles would just be handled as warranty service, whatever that covers, so since that was at the end of the hot weather and we didn't use it much after that, we are hoping the unit works this summer. Worked fine heating over the winter although it made some very odd noises at times. Keeping our fingers crossed. This is a $6000 unit.
