Local User Reviews for Famous Dave's.
BBQ is unremarkable under portioned & overpriced to many employees standing around doing nothing and being payed for it may cause them to be overpriced but being unremarkable go see for yourself. I recommend if its the only BBQ around but I wouldn't make a special trip for them until things change.
The bread pudding is also in need of work there is enough for 2 but is again unremarkable very Armed Forces Recipe Card in its taste nothing special to set it above others.
Slow-smoked barbecue and down-home sides dished up in a roadhouse setting..
In Short
Famous Dave's recipes began as a hobby for Dave Anderson, who opened his first 'cue shack in Hayward, Wisc., in 1994. Now a national phenomenon, the restaurants cater to diners who dig into finger-licking-tasty meat. The menu features chopped pork, Texas brisket, baby back ribs and fire-kissed chicken slathered with signature sauces like vinegary Georgia Mustard. Entrees, some of which arrive atop a garbage can lid, come with corn on the cob, drunken apples, baked beans or slaw.
The Very Best BBQ My husband & I have EVER had! No Kidding!. I grew up in South Carolina, where BBQ raves the finest; Well Famous Dave's is the tastiest, most delicious BBQ My husband & I have ever even since moving to Tennessee. I know it is a small chain, which may be what helps to keep the food quality high. SOOOOO delicioussss!!
The Big One. The antique sportsman theme at Famous Dave's reminds me of all those fish-tales I've heard about the best BBQ in America on the side of some little road on the way to grandaddy's secret fishin hole. Well the Big One doesn't have to get away this time - you can find it right off Cedar Bluff Road in Knoxville. Great pork and brisket, whole chickens if you want 'em, and flavorful fried catfish to round it out. I recommend a rib combo and an empty stomach. Try all the sauces, you'll have several waiting on the table, and I even mix them sometimes. Be warned, the sweet tea is like syrup, and the service is annoyingly friendly. It's loud and often crowded at Famous Dave's, but remember it's a chain of BBQ joints, not fine dining.
not as good as the first review. The first review must have been from a employee or family member. The bbq is not that good and to trash buddy's bbq is wrong.
Best Barbecue in the area for sure....
There is always good, strong smoke flavor in the meat. The sauces are thick, tasty and hearty. (This is in strong contrast to the place that OWNS the Knoxville BBQ market, who serve non-smoky steamed meat and ketchup watered down with vinegar in lieu of BBQ sauce. Knowhutimean, buddy?) All the side dishes at FD's are world class and delicious to boot! We have gone to FD's many times and the service has ALWAYS been exemplary.
My wife took me there yesterday for my birthday meal and FD's was incredible as always. The food was slow coming from the kitchen, but given that they had a busier than normal Sunday, no problem. Our waitress, Amanda, was SUPER apologetic that we had to wait a bit and worked really hard to make our visit pleasant. She was so nice, how could we get mad? No way. Food came, great as always.
