This Southern chain serves Tex-Mex and Mexican staples to large groups and families who come to gab over unlimited chips and hearty food staples. The Southwestern decor features bright colored walls and thick terracotta-tiled floors. Classic El Chico combinations, around since the company started in 1940, heap tamales, cheese enchiladas and refried beans on one plate. Tex-Mex items represent tastes for fajitas, soft tacos and enchiladas verde.

Best Mexican. I live on the west side of knoxville and travel to El Chico's about once every other month to dine. My wife and I think it's the best mexican food by far.

el chico. my family dines here about twice a month and have always had consistently excellent food and service. we also dine at don pablos at knoxville ctr and find it surprising that this web site rates it 8.2 and el chicos 7.2. el chicos is a cut above in the quality of the food than don pablos.
