Great beer menu. I came in the other day to eat with my posse and plan a motherf*cking driveby against the Dark Side and we were given this thuggerific server named Nick. Daaang, that boy was hustlin', and I was just glad I didn't have my girl with me, 'cause he probably would have took her. Fortunately, as it was, me and my boys loaded up on all the Sunspot's crunk spinach con caso we needed before going out and putting some Dark Side on ice.

GROSS!!!!. A few days ago I was at Sunspot with my wife when, while I was going to the bathroom right by the kitchen and overheard the manager talking to someone in the kitchen about "rain" falling on them. Later at the meal, I realized that water was dripping from the air conditioner onto their boxes of extra bread which they keep right next to where I was sitting in the upstairs part. There was already a substantial puddle and the boxes of buns&pita bread were getting wet. The GROSS part is that THE KITCHEN IS RIGHT BELOW THAT AND EVERYTHING THEY KEEP IN A STEAM WELL IS RIGHT UNDER THE AREA THAT WAS DRIPPING NASTY WATER. I've found the kind of insect you'd exprect to survive a nuclear war (it wont let me write the word because its "inapropriate") or two in the bathrooms here and I've even seen a fly buzzing in the the kitchen window without much thought, but this is TOO FAR. This place should be SHUT DOWN and the management that would continue to serve people food that an air condition is dripping into should be IMPRISONED. Do not eat there. Do not eat there. Do not eat there. $2.30 for a f@#$ing soda! DO NOT Eat there

Horrendous customer service. I have visited Sunspot several times recently because my coworkers and friends like it there. I love the food and the bartenders can make a decent mixed drink...(unlike many bars in Knoxville. ) It is usually not my first choice because the service is horrendous! There is always, no matter how busy the bar side gets, 1 server. You can sit at a dirty table and easily wait 15 minutes for anyone to approach the table and even acknowledge your presence. The 1 server is usually stressed and unpleasant by the time he/she gets to taking your order. Unfortunately, service to me is as important as a good meal and good drink and Sunspot proves to be very disappointing.

Sunspot is unique. In a town so full of chain restaurants, Sunspot is a great alternative. They have unique food at a moderate price. And, though it is vegetarian friendly, you don't have to be vegetarian to enjoy it. I really like the Ahi Tuna app. or the Tilapia with the crawfish sauce and cheese grits. Make sure you see what the spceials are before you order; they are usually really good.

The Sunspot is way overrated.. Good food is hard to find in Knoxville, and because of this, people's minds have been warped into thinking that this is a really good restaurant. The Sunspot is average, at best. Yes, the food is eclectic and vegetarian-freindly (I'm vegetarian myself), and yay, the service isn't overbearingly upbeat. On many occasions (I kept giving it a chance because everyone raved about it), I found the food to be disappointing and bland, even if it is covered in some tangy sauce. The only good thing on the menu is the Queso Dip. Even the Sunday brunch did not live up to its expectations.

Sunspot is cool. Nice place, a glorified diner with a bar. Bob Marley really isnt spicy Jerk... burgers are good. Tortilla chips are better than some Mexican resteraunts!

Relief from chains. K-Town is charming, and a great place to live, but it's hard to find alot of good, original restaurants. Sunspot is certainly an exception, in spite of being buried on "the strip," the bar/club/chain lined avenue through the heart of the University of Tennessee. Great beer selection too.

Hip for Knoxville. I live in a city of 9 million, and recommend anyone from a large city who happens to be in Knoxville (for whatever reason), that you stop by this place. The food is ecclectic, the service is friendly without being overbearing, and the atmosphere is creative and interesting. You don't have to be a vegan to eat here...and the best part is you won't feel like your eating at a chain restaurant, which pervade all US (especially southern US), cities under 1 mil.
