Even though our transmission went out while we were passing through Knoxville (late after hours on our way to vacation), their staff made our bad luck much less painful by making everything so easy on us. For that, we are truly thankful. The girls at the front counter were fantastic, not to mention empathetic to our circumstances. They hadled everything for us from arranging the towing service and rental car so we could continue on with our vacation plans, to helping us locate a hotel for the night while waiting for the rental car company to open the next morning. The mechanics were spot-on, having our car repaired before we returned traveling back home 3 days later. Our car operates perfectly now, thanks to the fabulous team at Transmission Corporation of America. Thanks again to their entire staff for their "excellence"!
RUN FROM THIS PLACE! My transmission
was coming out of 5th gear. I took it in, spent $649 to have gearshift control cables replaced and adjusted and assured by Wendy that "it was all fixed" (she denied later, of course). Drove to on ramp to I-75 and it came right out of 5th gear. Couldn't get it back to them til the next week. A supposed tear down said I needed a transmission replacement. Went w/a used unit ($1212 on top of the $649 I had already spent the prior week). Got my car back, came out of 5th gear less than 6 hours after getting it back. Had to wait til the next week to take it back. They comped the next transmission replacement and it lasted a whole 24 hours. The problem happened on Saturday (I had picked my car up late Friday afternoon), so I called on Monday. They couldn't get me in until Tuesday. The transmission this time had a grinding noise, whining and wouldn't stay in 5th gear again. I had enough after talking to Wendy and she didn't seem to care that much that this would have been the 4th time I've had it there to get the SAME PROBLEM fixed. I took it to Ace Transmissions on Monday because it sounded like the transmission was going to fall out of it. Upon inspection, it was determined that TRANSMISSION CORPORATION never replaced my transmission the first time, let alone the second time. They LIED!!!
Here's the kicker...during conversations (and the fact that there is a toddler booster in my car) with Wendy, she was WELL AWARE that I have a 5 year old AND that I am in my third trimester with my second son YET she and the techs at the garage let me leave three times w/a car that was unsafe to drive.
The owner of Ace and the techs there told me that my supposed replaced transmission was on the verge of seizing up. In all honesty, if I were on the interstate with my sons or even with my husband and my 5th gear or the entire transmission went out, we could have been hurt very badly had someone hit us.
We don't have alot of money anyway, but in order to properly fix my car, it was another $2000 that I just paid today. This is not counting four different times that I've had to rent a car...they only comped a rental one time.
Please DO NOT make the mistake I did. They look good on the internet with most of the good reviews, but it's probably just people that had minor things wrong. I don't know if they are shady or their techs are stupid or not, but if you have a transmission problem, please please do not go there. I do not want to see anyone worry and cry like I have over this.
Given that nobody enjoys going through a major component repair, the experience at Transmission Corporation of America was as good as it gets. Everyone on staff was helpfull and courteous at all times, and they went out of their way to answer any and all questions. They accomplished what they were supposed to do in a timely manner. I will definitely return here for my next transmission repair ...but I hope it is not soon. Thanks to a job well done.
The staff treated me like family. I want to thank the staff and mechanics of this shop. The girls were knowledgeable and friendly; they took extra steps to make sure my vehicle was fixed properly and paid for by the warranty company. I loved that there was a follow up on the repairs to make sure everything was working fine. They also went the extra mile and ensured my vehicle was clean of any oil and fluids. I would recommend this shop to everyone!
I'd like to thank Wendy and Angel for all they did for our family. I didn't know much about transmissions but they took the time to explain the repairs. Thank you for the rental vehicle as well! If we ever break down on the way to Florida again I will definately call Transmission America!
My automobile is a 2001 Park Avenue with over 170,000 miles; it has served me well. Recently developed a transmission problem, I was undecided whether to repair or trade, so I checked repair possibilities. I came to Transmission America and after being treated so nicely having the repair/rebuild explained to me I decided to go forward with the repair. Even after the car was in for repairs I had a thought that the cost could have gone a long way towards a new car! But after I got the car back I have driven it over 200 miles with great satisfaction! And I have fallen in love with my car again! Thank you for doing a great job!
I want to thank Angel & crew for the excellent work performed on my 2005 suburban's transmission. I brought it in, slipping between shifts and barely able to back up a hill. They completely rebuilt and upgraded components at my request. At the same time, they found I had a front wheel bearing that was bad and fixed that too. Almost 6 months later and everything is performing flawlessly. I also got to experience TCOA's service after the sale when an ABS light started coming on. The problem was with the replacement hub/bearing. They replaced it again at no charge to me. Problem solved! I highly recommend this shop!
I wish to say thanks again to Transmission Corporation of America for their help. Earlier this summer the transmission in my son's 2003 Ford Taurus went out. I explained to the staff that he is a college student & that we had to keep the repair cost as low as possible. Initially, the estimate to repair the transmission was close to $3,000.00. Feeling that the car itself wasn't worth that much, we declined to repair it. However, the girls at the shop were able to round up a core transmission that wasn't in as bad of condition as ours and we were then able to get that one fully rebuilt with a 12 month/12,000 mile warranty for around $1,800.00. I'd like to say thanks again for going the extra mile to save a college student his much needed cash. Have a great day!
Being a single woman makes it difficult
to find a trustworthy machanic who will not take advantage of me because I am a single woman.
I heard about Trans. Corp of America by listening to the Dave Ramsey Show.So when my car needed a tune-up there was no question as to where I was going to take it.
Angel Moore was so helpful in giving me a qoute and setting an appointment.Angel called me when another problem was found. She described what it was and how much it cost. That was great, she kept me informed.
Very Happy Customer,
