Caring Vets, Prices equal or better to most vets in the area. I hate that there were people unsatisfied with Cedar Bluff. It is a great vet hospital and in the past 2 years they have been treating my dogs I have always felt they were fair priced.Like it or not it is expensive to have pets. I have always gotten the information needed-even if the vet had to call me personally at home. They often throw in free boarding nights and even gave one of my dogs a free teeth cleaning during a surgery since we discussed it but at the time they were unable to know if they could fit it in or not. They also did not get angry when I told them that due to money I take my dogs to a low cost shot clinic and buy my flea meds/ heartworm through another source. I highly suggest Cedar Bluff, but it is most important to be comfortable with who you are taking you pets too.
TON OF MONEY ! NO INFORMATION.
I recently took my Lhasa to Cedar Bluff Animal Clinic because he was having difficulty urinating. They did an x-ray and told me he had bladder stones. They proceeded to tell me that he would die if they didn't operate immediately. They described a surgery that would cost around $800, more if they had to send him to UT.
I asked if there was any other option to which they responded yes...to push the stones back into his bladder so he could urinate again. They told me it would cost $250.
When I picked my dog up the next morning, the procedure was a success but they charged me $404. They wouldn't allow payments and didn't give me any additional information about his condition, prevention or possibility of re-occurance.
One month later, he was having the same problem. I took him to another Vet on Oak Ridge Hwy, in Karns. They not only performed the surgery to remove the stones, but gave me ALL the information about his condition and how to keep it from re-occuring with follow-up appointments. They also charged me $360 dollars for the ENTIRE surgery, visit and medication.
I feel like I was taken advantage of at Cedar Bluff Animal Clinic and grossly over charged. They may be competent but I will never take my pet back again.
I just read the review below mine....the same problem with the same outrageous cost! I hesitated to put the name of the new vet in my review, but it happens to be Butler Animal Clinic! They were great and everyone should take their pets !!!
Awesome. They always fit me in as I request on a Saturday, with 4 cats and 1 dog. Even after hours they referred me to someone that helped with an injured squirrel, a bird, a chipmunk and a box turtle. Prices are too high everywhere especially for pet care, I'd like it to be cheeper for my pets but the comparisons I made were close enough to keep me coming back for 7 years. I've tried other clinics they were not worth the extra drive for less care.
Prices out of control. I used to go to Cedar Bluff animal Hospital. I took my Schnauzer to Cedar Bluff because she had to uninate all the time and noticed the urine was red. I found out she had Bladder Stones and she would need surgery to have them removed. The price for this and also having her spade was going to be $875.00. I would also have to wait 2.5 weeks to get her in for the surgery. I could not believe it would cost this much. A friend of mine mentioned I should call Butler Animal Clinic because the prices were much better. I called and they said to bring my dog in anytime and they would take a look at her. I took her in with the records from Cedar Bluff the next day, after looking at the records the vet gave me an estimate for the same proceedures as well as catching her up on her shots and antibiotics she would need to be on after the surgery. This estimate much to my surprise was only $340.00. This was a savings of $535.00. In addition to this they said to bring her in the next morning for the proceedures, no waiting. I was beside myself and so thankful for them. Oh yeah, they did not even charge me for the visit that day to have her looked at. The only difference I could find with Cedar Bluff was that they offered bottled water and coffee in the waiting room. With a $535.00 savings I can buy water and coffee for a year. When I went into Cedar Bluff to get the rest of my dogs records I asked why the cost was so much higher. The gal was kinda snide and said "it just depends on where you go" . Well I guess it does and they just lost a customer with 2 dogs and with friends who have numerous pets.
