The worst mani/pedi I have ever had.
The good: the staff was friendly and they sell good products. The Bad: 1.) The manicurist was using non-professional and very dull tools. The clippers left rugged cuts. She couldn't get them to cut some nails, so she just filed them. 2.) She did no cleaning under the nails. 3.) During my pedicure, she wanted me to walk across the tile floor with wet feet to pick my color, instead of bringing me the color swatch. 4.) For the manicure, she left rugged edges on the nails, 5.) She used a rough file to "buff" my nails, which left scratch marks that were visible two days later, when I removed the nail polish. 6.) I had to remove the polish after less than 48 hours, because it was peeling the next day. 7.) Her tools were so dull, she couldn't cut the cuticle. She kept pulling on them to get them to come off!. 8.) She made one nail bed bleed! Her response, "Oh, you get one every now and then." I have NEVER had a manicure where they actually made me bleed. 9.) I went home and had to trim both my fingernails and toenails to remove the rugged edges. My home clippers cut better than her clippers did.
It's been years since I had been to the The Works. So long, I couldn't remember why I never returned. But, now I know I will never go back.

Superb massage therapy and hair styling.
My first priority on moving to Knoxville was to find a good massage therapist. By chance, TTW is near my house and I dropped in to check out available services. This is an Aveda salon with all the attention to detail that normally entails.
Pros:
Sara is a spectacular massage therapist. She is very thorough and always remembers my particular quirks. I absolutely cannot say enough positive things about her.
Every massage 'starts' with a foot bath with warm stones. It is remarkably soothing and a good transition time. The rooms are comfortable and quiet. There are a sauna and multihead shower for use after massage with all Aveda products at your disposal. They serve cucumber water which is remarkably refreshing.
Hair styling:
I have short hair. On women, this is very sensitive to the skill of the hair stylist. I see Vanessa for my hair and she does excellent work. The first cut or two weren't perfect, but that is part of getting to know each person's individual hair in my experience. Since then, the cuts are truly awesome and always just a little different (per my request) so that they don't get stale.
Each hair cut starts with a shampoo with scalp massage. This is always to-die-for awesome and never hurried.
The prices are very reasonable for the level of care.
Cons: Sometimes the front desk girls seem irritated that they have to stop chatting with each other to attend to the clients. They seem to rush through things so they can get back to talking amongst themselves. For example, I always have to ask to be able to schedule my next appointment! Other than that, though, the place is great.

Best color specialists, very nicely decorated, great effecient customer service.
Best facial I have ever had, Susan was the aesthetician. I had a package done in the spa and it was so peaceful and relaxing in the spa. The dry sauna was very relaxing and the hydrotherm shower was relaxing and soothing. A 10+ salon and spa
